The RWTH Aachen University

The RWTH Aachen University (RWTH), established in 1870, is divided into nine faculties.

Currently around 42,298 students are enrolled in over 144 academic programs. The number of foreign students (7,056) substantiates the university´s international orientation

The university budget amounts to 839.5 million Euros, of which nearly 330.4 million Euros are funded by third parties.

As the oldest institute in its field of research in Germany, the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics at RWTH Aachen University can look back at a long tradition of research in the fields of analysis, design and optimization of work systems and processes during development, production and service.

The scientific examination of the effects of demographic change on companies and their employees also constitutes a main area of research. To this end, this interdisciplinary institute combines the expertise of engineers, psychologists, sociologists and computer scientists as well as objective empirical methods and procedures (e.g motion tracking, eye tracking, EMG, EOG, EDA, etc.) to evaluate the psychophysical cause relationships and derive the use-oriented design for the target audience
